Blue Iguana Conservation (BIC) facility
The National Trust for the Cayman Islands began its work to save the endangered Blue Iguana (Cyclura lewisi) shortly after its formation in 1987, with a long-term goal of restoring the wild population to 1,000 individuals. The Blue Iguana Habitat has since become one of the park’s most popular attractions, showcasing the captive breeding and conservation efforts that helped bring this remarkable species back from the brink of extinction.
A self-guided tour of the Blue Iguana Habitat is included with regular Botanic Park admission, allowing visitors to observe these iconic reptiles and learn about their inspiring conservation story at their own pace.
